Clubs and Organizations
First Lego League Team
The Lightning Chiefs are the first ever Chapman First Lego League team. They meet twice a week from September through December working on this year’s project, World Class Challenge. They are working on an innovative solution to a learning challenge, programming an EV3 robot for the robot challenge, and learning about the Lego Core Values. The club will compete in a scrimmage in mid-October at McCracken and the Spartanburg Qualifying Event at Spartanburg Methodist College in December.
This club is made up of 12 4th and 5th grade students. It meets on Monday and Thursday afternoon.
Faculty sponsors are Kim Buice, Karen Horton, and Leah Rigsby.
Junior First Lego League Teams
This will be the second year the Chapman Chiefs will participate in the Jr. First Lego League. This year we plan to have 5 teams who will work on this year’s challenge, Think Tank. They will begin meeting in January and attend the Spartanburg Expo in the spring.
This club will be made up of about 30 1st - 3rd grade students and will meet twice a week beginning in January.
The faculty sponsors are Kim Buice, Erin Hudgens, and Mollie McCraw.
Boys & Girls Club
The mission of the Chapman Boys & Girls Club is to inspire all young members to become productive, caring and responsible citizens. The program is based on five core areas, Education, Health & Life Skills, Character Education, the Arts and Sports, Fitness and Recreation. A variety of clubs and field trips are offered to members. Currently there is a Drama Club, Art Club, Step Team, and Basketball Team. Members have traveled to places such as the Science Center, Skate Palace, Bowling, and Cowpens Battlefield, just to name a few! The overall goal is to make sure that all members are GREAT IN EVERYTHING THEY DO!!!!
The Chapman Boys & Girls Club serves an average of 115 students in grades 1 - 6. It operates Monday-Friday from 2:30-6:00 p.m. For information, contact Unit Director, Ryan Grace by email or phone (864-285-1082).
Fourth and fifth grade students will be able to join the Running Club.The goal of this club is to motivate, teach and guide children to establish a solid foundation of sound nutrition, develop active and positive lifestyles, and raise their self-esteem in the process.

There is a Student Council representative for each classroom in grades 4 - 5. Officers are elected by all students from these grade levels. Student Council members sponsor several fundraisers throughout the school year in order to fund community and school projects.
This year’s Fall project is a canned food drive for the Soup Kitchen. Student Council members will deliver food to and volunteer for the Soup Kitchen in December. In May, the Student Council will sponsor a team to walk in support of Relay for Life.
