Testing Programs

W.H. Chapman Elementary School students participate in a number of tests during each academic year. Below is a list of those tests and a little about each one. Should you have any questions concerning any of these tests, please feel free to contact Rene Ford via email RFord@spart7.org or by phone at 594-4440.

MAP

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is given in Reading and Math to students in grades 2-6. This test is given three times a year. MAP is a computerized test that gives automatic feedback to the child and the teacher as to the student’s strengths and weaknesses in those two subject areas.

Benchmarks

Benchmarks are district-created assessments that help teachers determine students’ mastery of the South Carolina Academic Standards. Four tests are given in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Math, Science, and Social Studies tests correspond with the end of each grading period. English Language Arts benchmarks are given periodically during the year to ensure each assessment is scored and analyzed prior to the PASS test being given.

ELDA

English Language Development Assessment (ELDA) is a test that is designed for our students who have a native language other than English. This test is given in February and March of each year.
