Greetings! My name is Carla Cato and I am your child’s school guidance counselor. I’m ecstatic about being a part of such a wonderful school family here at W. H. Chapman Elementary School. I look forward to working with you and your child.
My role as a team member of the W.H. Chapman Education Family is to help foster student’s academic, personal-social, and career development. Our guidance program is designed to promote positive self concept, encourage self discipline, create enthusiasm for learning, and encourage excellent character.
As the guidance counselor, I work with students in a variety of settings such as:
Individual counseling- a one-on-one support system to help students become self aware of their feelings and learn to express them appropriately.
Small group counseling is offered as supportive peer groups where students have a nurturing environment to share common issues such as anger management, decision-making skills, coping skills, friendship, study skills, and loss and grief.
Classroom guidance lessons focus on learning and preventive skills in a variety of areas such as conflict management, study skills, decision making and problem solving, substance abuse awareness, peer pressure, goal setting, career awareness, respect and responsibility.
I work closely with parents, teachers, and the community to ensure that all students have a successful academic school year. If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to meet with me, please feel free to call me at (864) 594-4440.
