W.H. Chapman Elementary School was built in 1969 and is located on 20 acres. Within our building we have spacious classrooms, all outfitted as
SMART CLASSROOMS with a wide range of technology. We have a cafeteria that also contains our stage for performances. We have 2 computer labs, 1 mobile wireless computer lab, a digital television production room, and a science lab. The school has a spacious gymnasium for physical education classes.
Our school has a fenced playground for kindergarten, and an extensive playground for 1st-5th grade. We have a walking track that surrounds the ball field and basketball courts. The school also has an outdoor classroom that is certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a School Yard Habitat, complete with a South Carolina Fence Garden and man-made pond stocked with indigenous fish.
The Environmental Club is leading an effort to have Chapman certified as a Green Step School. They sponsor and coordinate a variety of composting and recycling efforts. More information is available on their Chapman Recycle website.
