Terrific Kid 2012

Fifth grade student Chantel Aguirre has been selected as Chapman Elementary School's Terrific Kid of the year. Chantel received her award from Dr. Russell Booker, District 7 Superintendent of Schools, S. C. Representative Steve Parker, and channel 4 newscaster Jeff Hart.


Palmetto Silver Award

The State Department of Education and the Education Oversight Committee (EOC) have announced that Chapman Elementary School has been awarded a Palmetto Silver Award for attaining high levels of absolute performance and high rates of growth on 2011 PASS tests.


Student Council sponsors child through Make-A-Wish Foundation

The 2011-2012 Student Council led a drive to raise money to send a child to Disneyworld through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Through students' efforts and the support of the Trusted Choice insurance agents of South Carolina, a check for $1286 was presented to Make-A-Wish Foundation.


Green Steps School

Chapman Elementary School has achieved Green Steps status through efforts to become more environmentally sustainable. Under the leadership of the Environmental Club, students are composting cafeteria waste, reducing use of Styrofoam, recycling Capri Sun packages and Elmer's glue bottles and sticks, and re-using pop tops and discarded crayons. Students and staff are working to become a Certified Green Steps school by next school year.


Teacher of the Year

Felicia Ratcliffe is Teacher of the Year at Chapman Elementary School. She has taught first grade for 6 years. Felicia is a student-centered teacher and an enthusiastic young leader in our school.
