Principal's Message

{title}
We are about to ring in another wonderful school year here at Chapman! Chapman Elementary School has remained focused in its data driven approach that fosters academic growth for all students. The utilization of Measures of Academic Progress data, District Benchmark Tests along with Domine testing provided teachers with the necessary information to meet the individual learning needs of all students.
The in-depth focus on scientific-based strategies has enhanced our daily instructional delivery in the classroom to ensure student success.
Our teachers are also working hard to creatively integrate technology into the curriculum, and to use real-world connections to allow students to become effective problem solvers and communicators.
This summer our teachers participated in intensive staff development and they will continue throughout the 2014-2015 year. Chapman Elementary continues to ignite the curiosity of the technology-minded student. The infusion of technology into a balanced curriculum enhances and enriches the academic program and gives students a vibrant 21st century learning environment.

7 Shares, Cares and DARES!
Primed with excitement and sporting their pride, the District 7 team of teachers and staff donned their individual school colors and celebrated the start of a new academic year with the annual back-to-school program known as 7Shares on Thursday, August 14. The 1200 employees of the District packed the Spartanburg High School gym for a morning of inspiration, motivation, and recognition.
Bobbi Kennedy, Special Projects Director with ETV, brought special recognition to Adam Babcock, technology integration specialist at Spartanburg High School, for being named a 2014 PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator. After a nationwide search, Adam was selected as one of only 100 educators from across the country and the only one in South Carolina. He was chosen for his passion and commitment to innovative teaching practices that integrate digital media and technology in the classroom.
Praised for their commitment in the classroom, 13 teachers were honored as the top educator in their school with the District Teacher of the Year award going to Marquice Clark from the Cleveland Academy of Leadership. Eleven first-year teachers were also honored for outstanding performance during their induction year. Leslie Sloan from Spartanburg High School was awarded the Crystal Apple - the top award for a new teacher.
