W. H. Chapman is a Leader in Me School. The staff and students are learning, modeling and living the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. We believe it is imperative that our students learn what it means to be a leader and that these skills will help to ensure success in life.
We continue our in-depth focus on scientific-based strategies to enhance our daily instructional delivery in the classroom to ensure student success.
Our teachers are creatively integrating technology into the curriculum, and use real-world connections to allow students to become effective problem solvers and communicators.
The infusion of technology into a balanced curriculum enhances and enriches the academic program and gives students a vibrant 21st century learning environment. where they continue to become future leaders.

Authors of “We Are Charleston” Included In Literacy Program
District 7 kicks off the 11th year of 7Reads next Monday, September 25 with a week-long event that encourages the joy of reading. The District will host the winner of the 2016 ILA Young Adult Book Award, the Poet Laureate of South Carolina, and the authors of a compelling new book titled We Are Charleston. The celebrated authors, illustrators and poets include; Tim Davis, Herb Frazier, Jessica Khoury, Sonia Leverette, Melinda Long, Bernard Edward Powers Jr., Lance Rubin, and Marjory Wentworth. Children in every school within the District will have the opportunity to hear from one or more of the featured authors.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Notification of Rights

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) allows schools to release “directory information,” i.e., student’s name, address, photograph, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, diploma or certificate, awards received, and other similar information. Spartanburg School District 7 considers photographs to include digital images, including digital photographs and recordings related to school or district-sponsored events, activities, and special recognition, as “directory information.” In addition, federal laws require schools to provide military recruiters, upon request, with three directory information categories—names, addresses, and telephone listings—unless parents have advised the school that they do not want their student’s information disclosed. If for some reason you object to your child’s inclusion/identification in publicized school recognitions/events/activities, including on a school or district-maintained website/Facebook page/Twitter/other social media, or wish to opt out of the provision for contact information to the military, you must, within 15 days of registration, advise the principal in writing (annually) of the specific type of directory information to withhold. There would be no yearbook picture, no name or image used in school or district publications.

Our 2017-18 District 7 Crystal Apple Award recipient is Caroline Pruitt. Congratulations! The Crystal Apple Award is a meaningful tradition in D7 and an opportunity to applaud the work of our first-year teachers. Each has exhibited superior instructional skills and performed with distinction, based on SC standards. The Crystal Apple honorees are from the Early Learning Center, Kimberly Henerey; Chapman Elementary, Caroline Pruitt; Cleveland Academy of Leadership, Victoria Brewton; Houston Elementary, Peyton Allen; Mary H. Wright, Lindsey Singleton; E.P.
