Principal's Message

{title}
We have begun another wonderful school year here at Chapman! Chapman Elementary School has remained focused in its data driven approach that fosters academic growth for all students. The utilization of Measures of Academic Progress data, District Benchmark Tests along with Domine testing provided teachers with the necessary information to meet the individual learning needs of all students.
The in-depth focus on scientific-based strategies has enhanced our daily instructional delivery in the classroom to ensure student success.
Our teachers are also working hard to creatively integrate technology into the curriculum, and to use real-world connections to allow students to become effective problem solvers and communicators.
This summer our teachers participated in intensive staff development and they will continue throughout the 2014-2015 year. Chapman Elementary continues to ignite the curiosity of the technology-minded student. The infusion of technology into a balanced curriculum enhances and enriches the academic program and gives students a vibrant 21st century learning environment where they continue to become future leaders. Chapman students are Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow!

Gallup Research Kick Starts Conversation in District 7

Gallup Research Kick Starts Conversation in District 7
Dr. Tim Hodges, Director of Research with Gallup spent time in Spartanburg and the District speaking about hope, engagement, and well-being, and how measuring those outcomes can strengthen student readiness for learning.
Last year the Gallup Student Poll found that while 54% of the children surveyed felt hopeful, 46% feel stuck or discouraged about the future. Hodges noted, “That is real cause for concern.”
Next week D7 will administer the 2014 Gallup Student Poll to 1800 children in grades 5-12 with 20 questions like: “Did you smile and laugh a lot yesterday?”, “Is there an adult in my life who cares about my future?”, and “Is my school committed to building the strengths of each student?”
We believe this important feedback will help us improve hope and engagement and enable us to better prepare our students for college, career, and life.
Gallup is providing this Poll free of charge.
